The 3 star Hostal Hispano Argentino is in one of the most emblematic buildings on Gran Via in Madrid, a short walk from city's historic centre and Puerta del Sol. Head out for the compulsory tapas bar run where you can sample jamon de pato (cured duck meat), marinated olives and the occasional jabali (wild boar) and wash it all down with a cool beer or velvety red wine. For a great sit down meal, the nearby Chueca neighbourhood has charming little restaurants. The nightclubs and bars in Chueca tend to be gay oriented, but some allow straights.
