The Hostal Playa offers spacious, clean rooms right in the city centre only 20 metres to the Puerta del Sol and close to lively nightlife Madrid is famous for. During the day, hit the museums such as the Prado, Reina Sofia and Thyssen Museums or visit the nearby Royal Palace. Built after the Alcazar burned down in 1734, this Italian Baroque megalith outdoes itself with 2800 rooms total, 50 of which are open to visitors. Below are the quiet and beautiful gardens accessible only near the Puerta del Toledo, which might explain why they are not packed with tourists. The owners and childreen are living there, they are very nice. But it is very noisy, not because of the street but because of people noise all around the rooms. Don't expect to sleep in the morning...Translate this guest review
