If you want the best of the centre, with fast access to the museums, Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor, but stay in a great neighbourhood with some of the best bars, cheap eats and a lively atmosphere, this is the place for you.
Bodegas El Maño C/La Palma, 64 is a Madrid favourite for the atmosphere, service and ice cold beers- the fried goat cheese will melt in your mouth. El Pez Gordo on C/Pez, 6 is an urban tapas bar worth stopping in for the solomillo de cerdo al cabrales (succulent pork cutlet), croquetas, lacón ahumado (tender smoked ham) and Migas de Almería. You can’t go wrong. For bars, C/Barquillo has loads of great options.
