The amazing and prestigious gallery of the Prado Museum of Madrid has 8600 masterpieces. Some of the most famous are ‘Las Meninas’ by Velazquez (Diego Rodriguez de Silva y Velazquez, 1599–1660, Spanish painter, Baroque period), ‘La Maja Vestida’ and ‘La Maja Desnuda’ by Goya (Francisco Jose de Goya y Lucientes, 1746–1828, Spanish painter and printmaker). The world famous ‘Guernica’ by the unique Pablo Piscasso (1881 – 1973,  Spanish painter and sculptor) used to be in the Prado Museum as well but it was moved to the Reina Sofia Museum where there is more space for this big painting. In the Museum you can find not only astonishing paintings but also sculptures, drawings, decorative objects, medals, coins and prints.

The Reina Sofia Museum of Madrid (Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía - MNCARS) was inaugurated in 1992 and named after the Queen Sofia of Spain. It’s a beautiful building with a finest collection of 20th century art.
