  About the establishment
The Basic and no-frills Hostal Sud-Americana has two locations in Madrid just 100m from each other and only 1 minute from the Prado Museum. This is the ideal location to get to know the city and soak up its charms. The tourist bus is just around the corner and goes to all the attractions the city has to offer. In just 5 minutes, guests can walk to the Banco de España metro which connects to the Mendez Alvaro and Avenida de America bus stations, the airport and the Atocha train station.The two hostel locations are surrounded by great bars, night clubs, restaurants, theatres and cinemas. The most important museums of the city can be reached on foot, such as the Thyssen-Bornemisza, Prado and Reina Sofia. The Plaza España and Botanical Gardens are also nearby. In just 5 minutes you can be in the Plaza Mayor, the Puerta del Sol and the Royal Palace. The rooms in each hostel are very simple and no frills. Some have private bathrooms, and the rest use shared bathrooms. The reception desk is at the Paseo del Prado location, where you will be sent to one of the two buildings. This is a cheap and basic option for people who are looking to stay in an informal and unpretentious lodging.

L'emplacement est excellent et l'hostal est calme et propre par contre l'accueil n'est pas vraiment sympathique voire désagréable et assez surprenant pour ce qui est du "look" d'une des personnes.Le coin "salle de bains est extèmement réduit et les heures mais également la quantité d'eau sont comptées. La première chose qui m'a été montrée en visitant a été la serpillère pour essuyer l'eau !! Il aurait été utile de préciser la différence entre un HOSTAL et un hôtel (location de serviettes type mouchoir de poche)

Limpieza y ubicacion excelentes, pero la persona que nos recibio (de nombre Pepe) fue muy grosero y casi nos hace cambiar idea. La ducha exageradamente pequena, al punto de que no nos podiamos ni doblar para enjabonarnos los pies.

Das Hostal liegt sehr günstig angebunden am Paseo del Prado. Allerdings gibt es ansonsten nicht vie positives: Es dauerte Ewigkeiten, bis wir endlich unser Zimmer bekamen, das sogenannte Doppelbett war maximal 1,20m breit, im Zimmer mit drin war ein Mini-"Bad" mit einer Tür, die nicht bis ganz zum Boden reichte, sodass die ganze Nacht Klo-Geruch ins Zimmer wallte. Die Zimmer-Tür und auch die Eingangstür zum Hostal waren wohl auch schon etwas älter: man bekam sie kaum auf- und zugeschlossen!

Ich fand die Unterkunft sehr gut, die Nähe zu den Museen sehr günstig und im Ganzen wirklich sehr zentral gelegen! Mein Aufenhalt war problemlos, ich würde es jedem empfehlen. Der uralte Aufzug ist zwar gewöhnungsbedürftig und laut aber es gibt Schlimmeres! Das kleine Waschbecken als Privatbad im Zimmer zu bezeichnen ist wohl übertrieben aber das Bad ist nicht weit! Es hat sehr nach Farben gerochen aber ich bin da eher empfindlich! Lieber so, als dass es müffeln würde! Es war sehr sauber!

L'hôtel principal n'est pas un bâtiment en tant que tel, c'est un grand appartement divisé en plusieurs chambres réparties le long d'un grand couloir. D'autres chambres sont localisées dans d'autres immeubles, aux alentour de l'hôtel principal. L'isolation n'est pas au top, il faut prévoir des boules quiès ! Le gérant est très particulier, j'ai cru que c'était un clochard jusqu'à ce que je comprenne qu'il gérait l'Hôtel ! Sinon, les communs sont nettoyés tous les jours et les draps sont changés dès le départ des clients.
