The Reina Sofía Studios are 3 cool and nicely designed 35/45 m2 apartments which have been recently renovated, located in one of the best areas in Madrid, near the Reina Sofia museum and in a hip, multicultural part of the city (Lavapies) not to mention a short walk from Puerta del Sol. The Lavapies area is full of inexpensive foreign restaurants and some local classics. Bar Melos serves up utterly mouth-watering sandwiches of ham and cheese called the Zapatilla which put all other ham and cheese sandwiches to shame (calle Ave Maria). Get there early and expect it to be packed. ... more details >
These hip little studios have all the amenities and well appointed down to the last detail. It’s perfect for the lone traveller, couple or even family because it sleeps up to 4 people in one bedroom with a double bed and a pull out couch. The apartments are divided up into two levels: The bedroom is located up in a loft style area overlooking the salon. There is a fully functional kitchen and full bathroom with shower. From the apartment visitors will be able to reach the most interesting parts of the city on foot or a short metro ride (metro Antón Martín or Atocha). The beautiful wrought iron Atocha station is just down the street, as is the famous Reina Sofia museum which contains Picasso’s most famous work, Guernika. This picture depicts the senseless bombing of a town in the North of Spain and will not be travelling again as it could damage this important work of art. Also just around the corner are the botanical gardens and the Prado Museum. See works of art from the Spanish masters, Goya, Velazquez, Ribero and other important works like Hieronymous Bosch’s triptych Garden of Earthly Delights. Another good thing about the apartment is that should it rain, there is a great cinema which puts on non-hollywood films in original version (with Spanish Subtitles) just up the street: the Cine Dore. Worth checking out. < hide more details

Translate this guest review
